I read this morning of a hot air balloon which quite literally blew up in mid-air, killing 11 people. One only has to look at these things to realise how deadly they are. A tank full of propane, a very hot flame, and a little basket full of people 10,000 feet up in the air do not make for a good combination.

Do other people notice that when you look at links Garvan gives to support his posts they generally do the exact opposite?
I usually take more than twelve flights a year and apart from picking up respiratory infections the worst that has happened is that once my luggage went missing for a week.
This tragedy makes you think though. None of us know when our day will come. I bet none of those 11 people thought that yesterday would have been their last day on earth. As the scouts say, "Be prepared".

Do you think that that actually took place? The supposed 'loss' of camera and laptop conveniently provided Garvan with a reason not to post more photos, I am sure that had he really been to all the places he claimed ho would have got another camera and posted lots more photos.
Or may be I am just being cynical.

However the Garvan persona has been in existence for at least ten years, starting on the old BBC message boards.
Ten years is a long time to keep a parody of an idiot creationist going.
There is the possibility that the Garvan persona is just one of several identities inhabiting the mind of a person suffering from Dissociative identity disorder.
If Garvan is a persona that was constructed by a traumatised mind then that could explain the astounding level of ignorance he displays.
Actually I have just realised that it may also be an explanation for Garvans creationist views.
If the Garvan persona was 'created' fully formed following some mental/emotional trauma, at some level he may realise this and incorrectly apply the same thinking to the rest of the world.
At times Garvans ignorance and stupidity seem so great that it is hard to imagine him as a fully functional human being, if though Garvan is just one aspect of a person suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder then for much of the time the body may be under the direction of a more rational mind, with Garvan just surfacing on occasion and causing disruption.
If the Garvan identity is still around I would be interested to hear his thoughts on this case:

'Jon' was credited a few years back as being a contributer to Garvan's blog along with Mordecai and Garvan.
But I do not recall any actual posts being signed by him in memory.
I think he is part of Garv's psychosis but is either repressed ruthlessly by an active alter & principle or could be the principle personality that is plagued by the alter's of Garv & Mordecai...difficult to say because when in alter mode other considerations like principle personality are ignored totally.
An alter can hold dominance for months even years...but in Garv's case that seems to be punctuated with episodes when Garv retreats and Mordecai is allowed sway...Garv does not like Mordecai... maybe 'Jon' is the internal referee and bouncer that keeps them trucking.

Well I came across Gaev on the old Beeb boards...and that always seemed to be under the 'Garvan' name tag...
The personality thing really became apparent during his first blog attempt after getting kicked from the Beeb...it explained nothing really..and seemingly the cognitive processes never really improved either.
I don't remember multiple personalities on the old blog either. They seem to be a feature of the last four years or so.
